Advice from SIB Counselling on how to find part time work for international students.

Most of the employers in Norway will require a good command of Norwegian when you are applying for a job. In addition, students who stay less than 6 months are unfortunately not as attractive as employees compared to students who are staying for several years. However, it may be possible to find part-time, mostly unqualified jobs, where Norwegian skills are not a prerequisite:

  • Cafes/Bars/Restaurants, Hotels, Cleaning agencies
  • Production/Industry/Warehouses
  • Paper route/Advertisement distribution
  • Souvenir shops, Tourist guide,
  • International companies with English as working language
