The historical background is the signing of the first Norwegian constitution in 1814, and today the day is celebrated as a national holiday. Bergen has its own traditions for the parade, including comic troupes, various local organizations, marching bands - and of course: the unique "buekorps".
More than 100.000 join the celebration in Bergen this day - either as spectators or as participants. If you want to join the parade, you can walk behind the banner of your academic institution in the main parade (attendance 10.00 at Koengen).
